AutoPost ("AutoPost," "we," "us," or "our") is a Chrome extension designed to help automotive dealers, sales teams, and vehicle sellers transfer vehicle information from supported vehicle listing websites to Facebook Marketplace and streamline the vehicle listing process.
This Privacy Policy explains what information AutoPost accesses, how that information is used, and how we protect your privacy when you use the AutoPost Chrome extension.
1. Information We Access
AutoPost may access information displayed on vehicle listing pages when you choose to use the extension. This may include:
- Vehicle year
- Make and model
- Trim
- Mileage
- Price
- VIN, when available
- Vehicle description
- Vehicle specifications
- Vehicle location, when displayed
- Vehicle features
- Vehicle images
- Other information necessary to create a vehicle listing
AutoPost only accesses information necessary to provide the functionality you request.
2. Information We Do Not Collect
AutoPost is designed to operate locally within your browser.
We do not intentionally collect or maintain a database of:
- Your personal browsing history
- Your Facebook password
- Your Cars.com password
- Your Facebook login credentials
- Your account credentials
- Your private messages
- Your payment information
- Your contacts
- Your unrelated browsing activity
AutoPost does not sell, rent, or otherwise monetize your personal information.
3. How AutoPost Uses Information
Information accessed by AutoPost is used solely to provide the extension's functionality, including:
- Retrieving vehicle information from supported listing pages
- Preparing vehicle information for Facebook Marketplace
- Filling vehicle listing fields
- Generating or preparing vehicle descriptions
- Selecting and transferring vehicle photographs
- Allowing you to review and modify information before posting
- Automating repetitive data-entry tasks requested by you
AutoPost does not independently publish a vehicle listing without your action.
4. Local Browser Processing
Where technically possible, AutoPost processes vehicle information locally within your browser.
Vehicle information temporarily processed by the extension may remain available in your browser during your active session to allow features such as editing, reviewing, photo selection, and transferring information to function correctly.
AutoPost does not maintain a remote database of your vehicle listings unless specifically disclosed in a future version of the extension.
5. AI-Powered Descriptions
AutoPost provides AI-assisted vehicle description functionality. Users may select from prewritten prompts or customize their own prompt to generate a vehicle description.
When an external AI service is used, the information transmitted is limited to the information necessary to provide the requested AI functionality.
If AI processing is performed entirely locally, no vehicle information or prompt needs to be transmitted to an external AI provider.
6. Facebook and Third-Party Websites
AutoPost interacts with third-party websites, including Facebook Marketplace and supported vehicle listing websites such as Cars.com.
AutoPost does not control the privacy practices, security, data collection, or terms of service of these third-party websites.
When you use AutoPost to transfer information to Facebook Marketplace, the information is handled by Facebook according to Facebook's applicable terms and privacy policies.
Similarly, information displayed on Cars.com is subject to Cars.com's applicable terms and privacy policies.
You should review the privacy policies and terms of service of third-party websites you use with AutoPost.
7. Login Credentials
AutoPost does not request or require you to provide your Facebook or Cars.com passwords directly to AutoPost.
You should log in to supported websites through their own websites. AutoPost is designed to interact with pages that are already open and authenticated in your browser.
AutoPost does not intentionally collect or store your login credentials.
8. Photos and Media
AutoPost may access vehicle images when you choose to use the photo-import functionality.
You can select which images you want to include in a Facebook Marketplace listing.
AutoPost does not intentionally maintain a permanent copy of your vehicle photographs on its own servers.
Images may be temporarily processed by your browser as necessary to provide the extension's functionality.
9. Data Sharing
AutoPost does not sell or rent user information.
We do not share your information with third parties for advertising or behavioral profiling.
Information may be transmitted to third-party services only when necessary to provide a feature you have requested, such as AI-powered description generation, or when the information is submitted by you to a third-party website such as Facebook Marketplace.
10. Data Security
AutoPost takes reasonable measures to minimize the collection and transmission of user information.
Because AutoPost operates as a browser extension and interacts with third-party websites, no method of electronic transmission or storage can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
Users should keep Chrome and their operating system up to date and should only use AutoPost on trusted devices.
11. Data Retention
AutoPost does not intentionally retain users' vehicle listing information on remote servers.
Information temporarily processed within the browser may be removed when the relevant browser session, page, or extension data is cleared, depending on how Chrome handles the underlying browser data.
If a future version of AutoPost introduces server-side storage or additional data processing, this Privacy Policy will be updated accordingly.
12. Children's Privacy
AutoPost is intended for business users, vehicle dealers, sales professionals, and other adults involved in vehicle sales.
AutoPost is not directed toward children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
13. Third-Party Services
AutoPost may interact with or rely upon third-party services to provide certain functionality.
- Cars.com
- Facebook Marketplace
- AI service providers, if applicable
Each third-party service operates under its own privacy policy and terms. AutoPost is not responsible for the privacy practices of third-party websites or services.
14. Chrome Extension Permissions

When we make changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this Privacy Policy.
